Statement
Wednesday, August 18, 2021

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) mourns the loss of Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) Transportation Security Officer Hakop Armatuni, who died Tuesday after contracting COVID-19.

Armatuni joined TSA in June 2008 worked his entire career at BUR. His peers will remember his gentle and reserved demeanor, which became respectful and gregarious for those who knew him well. He is the 21st TSA employee to pass away after contracting COVID-19, and he will be sorely missed by the close-knit team at BUR.

TSA continues to urge that all employees get vaccinated and to follow CDC guidance, including mask requirements. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Armatuni’s family, friends and coworkers.
