Statement on the passing of Philadelphia-based TSA officer after contracting COVID-19

PHILADELPHIA - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is extremely saddened to learn that Philadelphia International Airport TSA Officer Michael Cassabria passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, after contracting COVID-19. He was 41-years-old.

Cassabria joined TSA in October 2019 as a checkpoint TSA officer. He also served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve. Known by his colleagues as a quiet and friendly person, Cassabria enjoyed working with computers and technology.

TSA offers heartfelt condolences to Cassabria’s family, friends and his TSA colleagues. He is the 15th TSA employee to pass away after contracting COVID-19, and he will be remembered for his dedication and service to his country.
