Rana Khan
Rana Khan is the Assistant Administrator for Operations Management, Security Operations. In this role she provides strategic and tactical leadership to Security Operations in the areas of budget and financial management, organizational performance metrics, procedural development and oversight, emergency preparedness, operational resources and human resources management.
Prior to this assignment, she served as the Assistant Administrator for Operations Management for TSA’s Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS) responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership and support services in the areas of budgetary and financial management, human resources management, staffing and logistics.
Ms. Khan previously served as the Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator for Human Capital and was the LE/FAMS Business Management Office Director, providing leadership and oversight of all core business management functions including human capital management, budget planning and execution, financial management and administrative services. She received the TSA Administrator’s Award – Commitment to Excellence in 2016 and was a team recipient of the DHS Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Diversity Management in 2015 and Excellence in 2019. Ms. Khan also served as the Deputy BMO Director for LE/FAMS.
In October 2007, Ms. Khan began her career with TSA as the Assistant General Manager of Workforce Utilization in the Office of Security Operations. She was responsible for managing complex airport staffing allocations for over 450 airports.
Ms. Khan worked in the private sector for 18 years before joining federal service. She worked at United Airlines in a variety of management roles in airport operations, business administration and human resources. She also served as the Human Resources Manager for BP, supporting the Air BP and North America Lubricants Asset, serving as an advisor in employee relations for contract negotiations.
Ms. Khan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from American Military University and studied Human Resources at the University of Maryland University College. She is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute Leadership for a Democratic Society Program.
