Statement on the passing of Transportation Security Officer Jeffrey Gonos after contracting COVID-19

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) mourns the passing of another member of the TSA family. St. Louis, Mo.-based Transportation Security Officer (TSO) Jeffrey Gonos passed away on September 5, 2021, after contracting COVID-19.

Gonos joined TSA in July 2019 as an affable and dependable employee who remained dedicated to the TSA mission and diligent in his duties as a TSO.

TSA continues to urge all employees to get vaccinated and follow CDC guidance, including face mask recommendations. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Gonos’s family, friends and coworkers.
