LOS ANGELES - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hosting a two-day hiring event to recruit women and men to serve as entry-level Federal Air Marshals at locations nationwide. The event will take place Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12 in Los Angeles.
Interested applicants can attend the hiring event to learn more about the mission of the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) and career paths. Individuals will have the opportunity to submit an online application, complete the FAMS computer-based hiring assessment, participate in a structured panel interview and schedule a physical training assessment.

Federal Air Marshals detect, deter and defeat criminal, terrorist and hostile activities that target our nation’s transportation systems. They perform a critical role in securing the nation's transportation in a variety of federal law enforcement capacities on board aircraft and on the ground in transportation sectors such as mass transit, rail and ports.
The annual salary range including locality pay for entry-level Federal Air Marshals in the Los Angeles is $84,366 to $105,458. In addition, FAMs may be eligible for 25% in additional Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP), other types of premium pay for working federal holidays, overtime pay and various performance awards.
Applicants do not need previous experience working in security, the military or law enforcement fields. New hires will receive extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and they are paid while undergoing training.
Applicant Requirements
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals between the ages of 21 and 36 (veterans may receive a waiver allowing for employment prior to their 40th birthday) with a minimum of either three years of work experience or a bachelor’s degree or higher, or combination of education and experience. They must also pass a pre-employment background check, including a polygraph and pass a medical evaluation and a physical fitness assessment.
