PORTLAND, Maine – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will hold a recruiting event Wednesday, July 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event is designed to assist individuals interested in applying for a job as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) or a Security Support Assistant (SSA) position at Portland Jetport (PWM).
Starting pay at PWM today is currently $22.10 per hour. TSA is also offering a sign-on bonus of $1,000 for PWM and salary will increase to $64k after two years with TSA.
This hiring event is designed to accelerate the TSO hiring process. Participants will attend an information session to learn more about TSA employment. As part of the information session, TSA will provide an overview of working for the federal government and discuss benefits, which include paid leave, health care plans for full- and part-time employees, 401k coverage and more.
Job seekers will then apply for a TSO position, if they did not apply online prior to the event, participate in a structured interview to assess qualifications for the position, take a proctored computer-based test and complete a medical evaluation, federal drug screening and pre-hire background investigation soon after the event.
The event takes place on Wednesday, July 19 from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Doubletree by Hilton Portland, 363 Maine Mall Rd.
Tips for The Event:
1. Bring two forms of valid federal or state government-issued identification. At least one form of identification with a photograph and a signature is required.
2. Please note that a resume and previous work experience are not required for your USAJOBS profile or the TSA application.

4. Consider arriving early to allow more time to complete all components.
