SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will hold another  recruiting event Wednesday, April 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event is designed to assist individuals interested in applying for a job as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) at Burlington International Airport (BTV).

Starting pay at BTV today is currently $17.92 per hour; after two years on the job, pay increases to $27.79 per hour. TSA is also offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for BTV, $2,500 after onboarding and an additional $2,500 after one year of service.

Attendees will receive information about full- and part-time TSO positions and have the opportunity to complete multiple steps of the hiring process. The event includes an information session about the TSO role, application assistance, computer-based testing, and a structured interview to assess qualifications for the position and scheduling of medical appointment.

As part of the information session, TSA will provide an overview of working for the federal government and discuss benefits, which include paid leave, health care plans for full- and part-time employees, 401k coverage and more.

A video titled “Day in the Life of a TSO” highlights TSA officers duties and TSA’s mission.

The event takes place at Delta Hotels Burlington, 1117 Williston Rd. in South Burlington. Because participating in the information session and preliminary hiring process components can take between three and four hours, TSA recommends arriving early in the day. Candidates are required to have two valid forms of state or federal identification.

TSA seeks those who want to take the initial step into a rewarding federal career and support TSA’s critical mission of protecting our nation’s transportation systems. For more information on the TSO position and to learn more about TSA careers, visit jobs.tsa.gov/TSO.
