TSA recruiting officers to work at Plattsburgh International Airport

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will be conducting a series of recruitment events in June and July to hire additional officers to work at Plattsburgh International Airport.

There are currently openings for part-time positions with a starting salary of $19.44 per hour to include a 15 percent retention incentive. TSA offers new employees opportunities for pay increases after six months and is currently offering a $1,000 hiring bonus to individuals who become TSA officers at Plattsburgh. New hires will receive $500 upon starting and another $500 at their one-year anniversary.

The recruitment events will consist of information tables staffed by TSA officers that will be located in the terminal lobby near the mosaic. The recruitment table will be staffed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 16, 23 and 30 and again on July 7, 14, 21 and 28.

The booths offer individuals who are interested in learning more about the job the opportunity to ask TSA officers who are doing the job. It also allows applicants the chance to find out more about the hiring process.

TSA officers screen thousands of airline travelers daily, ensuring they arrive at their destinations safely. TSA expects to screen a greater volume of travelers regularly this summer and needs additional officers to support its security mission.

Johnson, TSA’s Federal Security Director for the airports in Upstate New York.  “This is a career that is very rewarding. Applicants do not need previous experience working in security or law enforcement fields. New hires will receive extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and they are paid while undergoing training.

Stopping by one of the recruitment booths will offer individuals an opportunity to accelerate the hiring process.
