SALT LAKE CITY - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hiring Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to work at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). There are 20 full- and five part-time positions currently available at SLC. Starting salary is $16.51 per hour.

As an incentive, TSA will pay newly-hired TSOs at SLC $500 upon starting with the agency and $500 after one year of service with TSA. To qualify for the recruitment incentive, the employee must come onboard with TSA between now and September 30, 2021.

To assist with the application and hiring process, TSA is participating in two virtual recruitment events on Thursday, May 20 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Interested individuals can learn more about the job and receive guidance on completing the application process. To sign up, text “SLC” to 95495 or register online at Indeed.com.

“TSA has immediate openings for those who want to start or continue their federal career. Working for TSA is an excellent opportunity to join an established team of security professionals who are on the frontline of protecting our nation’s transportation system,” said TSA Federal Security Director for Utah Matt Davis. “We all benefit when checkpoints are fully staffed ensuring that TSA operations run smoothly and efficiently. If you are looking for challenging and engaging employment, join the virtual session to learn more about what TSA has to offer.”

Based on anticipated seasonal travel trends in the months ahead and the fact that the COVID-19 vaccination is available to the general public, TSA launched local and national efforts to recruit new employees in support of security screening operations.

TSOs at SLC are federal employees. Benefits include paid training, annual and sick leave, health care plans for full- and part-time employees and a generous retirement plan. TSOs are eligible for up to $5,000 per year in college tuition reimbursement. TSA does not prorate benefits for part-time workers, and veteran’s preference is not required to join the agency.

After six months, TSOs are eligible for pay increases and those who work early mornings, evenings and Sundays receive a shift differential. Overtime opportunities, which are paid at time and a half, are frequently available. TSA is committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to apply.
