BILLINGS, Montana - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has immediate openings for Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to work at Billings Logan International Airport (BIL). There are five full- and eight part-time positions currently available at BIL. Starting salary is $16.51 per hour.

As an incentive, TSA will pay newly-hired TSOs at BIL $500 upon starting with the agency and $500 after one year of service with TSA. To qualify for the recruitment incentive, the employee must come onboard with TSA between now and September 30, 2021.

TSA will be participating in the Job Service Employer Committee Jobs Jamboree scheduled for Wednesday, April 21 at the Montana Pavilion at MetraPark in Billings. Interested individuals can come to this hiring event and learn more about the job of a TSO and get assistance with the application process.

“We are looking to add to our local TSA team of security professionals. If you want to be part of a dynamic group of individuals who play an important role in keeping the traveling public safe and secure, come learn more about working for TSA,” said Acting Federal Security Director for Montana Mark Heisey. “This is an excellent opportunity to join the federal workforce and jumpstart your career. Attending the Jobs Jamboree could be the first step to being hired by TSA.”

This one-day hiring event is open to the public from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event opens to veterans and active duty military service members at 11 a.m.

Based on anticipated seasonal travel trends in the months ahead and the progress of COVID-19 vaccinations for the general public, TSA has launched national efforts to recruit new employees in support of screening operations at airports nationwide.

TSOs at BIL are federal employees. Benefits include paid training, annual and sick leave, health care plans for full- and part-time employees and a generous retirement plan. TSA does not prorate benefits for part-time workers, and veteran’s preference is not required to join the agency.

After six months, TSOs are eligible for pay increases and those who work early mornings, evenings and Sundays receive a shift differential. Overtime opportunities, which are paid at time and a half, are frequently available. TSA is committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to apply.
