NEW YORK – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is looking to fill more than one hundred full- and part-time positions at John F. Kennedy International, Newark-Liberty International and LaGuardia Airports during the course of the next several months. It’s part of a national effort to hire 6,000 TSA officers to be prepared for projected summer travel volumes.

TSA officers screen thousands of airline travelers daily, ensuring they arrive at their destinations safely. TSA expects to screen a greater volume of travelers regularly by summer and needs additional officers to support its security mission.

Based on anticipated seasonal travel trends in the months ahead and the progress of COVID-19 vaccinations for the general public, TSA has launched national efforts to recruit new employees in support of screening operations in the New York City Metropolitan area in addition to many of the agency’s other airports nationwide.

Benefits of working at TSA include paid training, annual and sick leave, health care plans for full- and part-time employees and a generous retirement plan. TSA is committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to apply, including military veterans and persons with disabilities. Starting pay in the New York City region is $19.07 per hour for part-time employees with opportunities for pay increases after six months. Starting annual salary for a full-time TSA officer is $39,803, also with opportunities for salary increases.

TSA seeks those who want to take the initial step into a rewarding federal career and support TSA’s critical mission of protecting our nation’s transportation systems. TSA’s highly skilled, professional employees receive extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers and they are paid while undergoing training.
