“TSA’s Instagram page provides a creative, innovative, and even quirky way for the agency to engage with travelers with the goal of providing important information about our travel policies,” said acting Assistant Administrator for Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Jim Gregory. “Bob started our account, and he had an amazing knack for perfectly blending wit and humor with transportation security. His legacy lives on as we continue to meet travelers where they look for information.”

TSA’s Instagram takes a tongue in cheek approach to guide travelers in their checkpoint adventure by highlighting prohibited and artfully concealed items, providing travel tips, and gives reminders about busy travel seasons. The post responsible for the 1 millionth follower: a post for #NationalVideogameDay.

TSA’s Instagram stories allow the public to ask travel questions under “Ask Me Anything,” responding with information about security screening policies while reaching larger audiences. Travelers also are able to engage directly with TSA via @AskTSA on Facebook and Twitter and can ask questions in real time to be better prepared for the security screening process.
