Tuesday, October 30, 2018

SEATTLE – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is holding a one-day recruitment and hiring event Saturday, November 3, to recruit full- and part-time Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to work at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Paine Field Airport (PAE) in Everett, Wash.

Interested individuals are invited to begin the application and hiring process by coming to the Sea-Tac Office Center, 18000 International Boulevard in Seattle between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Note that the information session and preliminary hiring process can take between three and five hours, so TSA recommends arriving early in the day. Candidates are encouraged to bring a snack and beverage and required to have two valid forms of state or federal identification.

Vehicle parking is available on the east side of the building and will be validated for a reduced cost of $8. The Sea-Tac Airport light rail stations is located three blocks away. Once in the building, signs will direct candidates to the location of the recruitment and hiring event.

The hiring event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Note that a complete session can last three to five hours, so TSA recommends arriving early in the day. Candidates are encouraged to bring a snack and beverage and required to have two valid forms of state or federal identification.

PAE is set to become the nation’s newest federalized security operation when it begins offering commercial air service in early 2019. TSA plans to staff the airport with newly-hired employees as well as transfers from other airports, which are currently staffed by TSA.

Between the two airports, TSA is looking to hire more than 175 TSOs. The goal is to have many of them onboard ahead of the busy holiday travel season.

During the hiring event, TSA officials will discuss the duties of a TSO and the application process. They also will provide an overview of working for the federal government and discuss benefits, which include paid leave, health care plans for full- and part-time employees and 401k coverage. Starting pay is $18.64 per hour.

After the information sessions, those who are interested in pursuing employment with TSA may be asked to take a computer-based aptitude test, participate in a structured interview and leave with a medical kit for drug screening. Applicants will also undergo a medical exam, which will be scheduled at a later date. Applicants can apply for the positions on-site, but are encouraged to apply early.
