I would like to take this opportunity compliment the entire staff at the Santa Barbara Airport and a special shout out to TSA Officer Hermann Fassbind.
I was returning from a visit and mistakenly put a diffuser in my carry on. The liquid in the diffuser well exceeded the amount allowed for a carry-on. I was heartbroken thinking I would have to throw away my gift. But my hero Hermann saved the day by advising me that I could still add it to my already checked bag.
I took my ID, boarding pass, bag tag and the diffuser to the counter where the rep very graciously retrieved my bag, allowing me to place it in my checked luggage. Quite a different experience than in the past. He was kind enough to explain that because of the size of the BEAUTIFUL airport and being on a later flight they were able to accommodate me, but I shouldn't expect this at a larger much busier airport. He was wonderful to set reasonable expectations.
Truly made my day!
