“During the 2019 spring break travel period, the dedication and professionalism of our TSA officers and the commitment of our security partners were on full display,” said TSA Acting Deputy Administrator Patricia Cogswell. “The fact that we continue to break records is a testament to the strength of the aviation industry and our continued and collaborative pursuit of improving security and the overall travel experience.”
Although the volume of individuals screened was notably high, 97.2% of all passengers waited less than 20 minutes at the checkpoint and 92.4% of passengers who were in a TSA Pre✓® lane waited less than 5 minutes.
On an average travel day, TSA screens approximately 2.2 million passengers and crew. In the busiest days during the spring break and Easter holiday period, TSA screened as many as 400,000 more passengers per day than usual.
