Security Operations - Deputy Executive Assistant Administrator

Steve C. Lorincz currently serves as the Deputy Executive Assistant Administrator for Security Operations. Prior to assuming his current role in December 2022, he served as the Federal Security Director for the State of Michigan.  In his new role, Lorincz oversees airport checkpoint baggage and canine screening, as well as air cargo, screening operations for over 430 domestic airports representing over 55,000 employees with an annual budget of 5.7 billion dollars. Internationally, Lorincz provides oversight for an additional 280 airports conducting last points of departure operations to and from the United States.

Lorincz is also responsible for enforcing regulatory compliance for transportation security worldwide, ensuring all modes of transportation including aviation, mass transit, passenger and freight rail, highway and motor carrier, maritime, pipeline, and air cargo are in compliance with domestic and international regulatory requirements.

Appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2014, Lorincz provided employee-focused and mission driven leadership throughout his tenure with TSA. Lorincz joined TSA in 2003 and was instrumental in establishing foundational practices for the Agency.  His extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge of the airline transportation business and related security, risk management, operational, workforce management and regulatory compliance matters are vital to the success of Security Operations.

Lorincz has held multiple leadership positions including Federal Security Director for the State of Michigan, Regional Director for the Midwest, Federal Security Director TVC & the Spokes, Federal Security Director at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, and a member of the Administrator’s Inclusion Action Committee.

Before joining DHS, Lorincz worked for Northwest Airlines and served in several executive leadership positions. He was also a founding member of the National Advisory Council for the Administrator and is a recipient of several DHS and TSA awards for leadership and team achievement.  Lorincz received his BA in Business Management and his Masters in Global Management and he is also a graduate of the DHS/TSA Senior Leadership Program.
