William Aupperlee Assistant Administrator

William Aupperlee serves as the Assistant Administrator for Field Operations within the Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS).

He provides executive level leadership and strategic direction to headquarters and the field, including two regions, 20 LE/FAMS field offices, the Joint Coordination Center, the Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response Program, and senior-level training staff detailed to the TSA Training Centers. He serves as the primary advisor and authoritative consultant to the FAMS Director and Executive Staff on law enforcement issues impacting domestic and international law enforcement operations in the transportation domain. 

Aupperlee joined the Federal Air Marshal Service in February 2002. Previous assignments include the Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC) of the Houston Field Office, SAC, TSA Canine Training Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, Assistant SAC at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, New Mexico, Assistant SAC FAMS Training Division at Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Federal Air Marshal in the Orlando and Miami Field Offices.

Prior to joining the Federal Air Marshal Service, Aupperlee served at the Central Intelligence Agency. Assigned to the Office of Security, he worked in a variety of assignments in law enforcement, protective operations and training related programs in both domestic and overseas settings.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Aupperlee served in many significant leadership positions including Assistant Detachment Commander at U.S. embassies in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Bern, Switzerland, Karachi, Pakistan (Consulate), and Cairo, Egypt.

He is a graduate of National Preparedness Leadership Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School of Government Center for Public Leadership, the FBI National Academy, and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business Servant Leadership program.  He has served as a member of the Senior Executive Service since 2014.
